"My mother moved in three months ago after we spent a long time wondering whether it was the right step. The staff gave us as much time as we needed before she arrived, and the first week they made it a point to check in on her every day. She called me last week to say she had friends now. That said more than anything I could write here."

"I chose the Active Community Programme and it has been the right fit. The schedule is not rigid — if I want to skip the morning session, nobody makes me feel guilty about it. The lifestyle coordinator sat with me in my second week and asked what I actually enjoy doing. I told her I used to sketch. By the following Monday there was a small art session that I could join. Small thing, big difference."

"My father is a private person and I was honestly worried he would feel out of place here. He is in the Tranquil Room and that suits him. He eats his meals, reads in the alcove, sometimes joins the weekly gathering when he is in the mood. He told me last month that he likes how nobody pushes him. The kitchen staff already know his preferences without being asked. That kind of attention is not easy to find."

"We looked at several places before this one. The difference at Rehat Residence was clear from the first visit — the staff spoke to my grandmother directly, not to us. They asked her what she liked for breakfast. They showed her the garden before they showed us the paperwork. It was the little things that decided it for us."

"I moved into the Premier Suite after my husband passed. I was not ready to be around too many people, but I also did not want to be alone at home. Having my own space here with the courtyard just outside my door has been a comfort. The resident liaison checks in but never hovers. The fresh flowers every week feel like a small act of kindness that I did not expect to matter as much as it does."

"My uncle has been here for five months on the Active Community Programme. He was reluctant at first — very independent man, did not like the idea of living somewhere with a schedule. But the outings to the temple and the board game afternoons won him over gradually. He now looks forward to Thursdays. One thing I wish was available is a later check-in window on weekends, but generally the team is very responsive when we raise things."

Resident Journeys
Three short accounts of what the transition into Rehat Residence looked like — from the initial enquiry through to daily life a few months in.
Encik Haji Baharom, 76
Tranquil Room Package · Residing since August 2025
The Situation
After his wife passed, Encik Baharom was managing the house alone. His children were concerned about meals and daily routines but he was firm — he did not want to feel like a burden or lose his independence.
The Arrangement
The Tranquil Room suited him well. His own space, his own pace. The team took the onboarding slowly — he spent the first week simply getting familiar with the building before any introductions were made.
Six Months Later
He regularly sits in the reading alcove in the afternoons and has developed a friendship with another resident over their shared interest in local history. His son described it as the most settled he has seen his father in years.
"I thought I would feel like I was giving something up. Instead I found I had more time to just sit and think, which is what I had been missing for a long time."
Puan Salmah binti Che Ros, 71
Active Community Programme · Residing since October 2025
The Situation
Puan Salmah had been living with her daughter's family, but the household was busy and she found herself spending a lot of time alone in her room. Her daughter noticed she was becoming withdrawn.
The Arrangement
The Active Community Programme offered what she needed — other people nearby and something to do each day without the pressure of a fixed schedule. The lifestyle coordinator noticed her interest in gardening during the first week.
Six Months Later
She now leads the Thursday gardening group informally, teaching other residents what she knows. Her daughter visits on Saturdays and says she has not seen her mother this energetic in several years.
"I came here thinking I would just be living somewhere smaller. I did not expect to find something that made me feel useful again."
Mdm Lim Kwee Hwa, 78
Courtyard Premier Suite · Residing since January 2026
The Situation
Mdm Lim had lived in a large home for forty years. Her children wanted her to be comfortable and well attended without placing her in a clinical environment. The transition needed to be handled with care.
The Arrangement
The Premier Suite provided the space and personal attention that made the transition feel less like downsizing. Her resident liaison handled everything from the initial move to personal preferences during her first month.
Three Months Later
Her suite opens onto a section of the courtyard that she now considers her own corner. The team coordinated a small birthday gathering in February with her children and grandchildren. Her family said it was the first time in years they had all sat together at a table like that.
"The courtyard in the morning, a good breakfast, someone who remembers how I take my tea. At my age, these are not small things."
